According to IGN UK who sat down and talked with Mark Hammil about his new movie, Hamill supposedly said that Arkham Asylum 2 would be the last time he would ever play the Joker!

Kind of like when he officially stopped playing Luke Skywalker in Star Wars. People were always so focused on his role there that directors just couldn't picture him as anyone else so he wasn't really hired in any other movies. Now it's pretty much the same thing except with Joker.

I think that it was Hamills decision to stop playing Joker. He said he only sighned on in the original Arkham Asylum because Kavin Conroy and Paul Dini were attached to the project.

Yeah, buts its like Sir Conan Doyle who wrote Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock was so popular that nobody read his other work so eventually he killed off Holmes in one story so his other stories could get more publicity.
